Mortgage declined!

My husband and I would say average credit. Clear score credit scores are middle of the road. We currently have a mortgage but have sold our house and had an offer accepted on a larger house for our family. We tried to get an agreement in principle from our existing mortgage company today through a mortgage advisor and it was declined saying we had poor credit rating. We have no missed payments or anything on our accounts and potentially will have minimal other credit commitments and a 33% deposit for our new property but we were still declined. We are waiting on a large sum of money from inheritance within the next 2-3 weeks and made the bank aware of this but still declined. Any suggestions?

Hi, I am sure this is a stressful time but try not to panic.

What lender has declined you and what has your current adviser suggested?

Clear score credit files are not ideal as sometimes not every credit line is visible. May well be worth obtaining a Check My File which covers all of the main agencies.

Sorry, only just noticed the reply.

This is surprising so I would want to 100% check the keying is accurate and check across all credit agencies that the information held is accurate.

Best of luck
