My partner and I will be looking to get a mortgage in about a year or so. He’s got an old debt from over 6 years ago. It’s not on his credit record now. Will this affect our chances of getting a mortgage or will I just mean we might be paying more interest? Thank you in advance

Hi there,

It is unlikely to affect you hugely unless the debt was with the lender you approach. Ensure you check the questions as some lenders will ask about any previous debt.

Good luck
